Job Purpose:

The Telecom Regional Category Manager will lead the sourcing strategy and execution for telecom initiatives and negotiations, and is responsible for negotiation, drafting and management of contracts and sourcing initiatives for the stated telecom strategy. This includes detailed pricing analysis and service level agreements that hold telecom suppliers accountable for performance and issuance of RFPs/RFIs/RFQs.

Provide leadership across the Enterprise, and work with regional business and telecom managers in identifying, evaluating, coordinating, implementing, and measuring/monitoring new and ongoing ideas/initiatives, continuous process improvement activities and specific focus on cost reduction opportunities.

Your tasks:

  • Lead the strategy for the Telecom Americas category. Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of relevant supply markets, proactively scout for new suppliers.

  • Develop and implement regional sourcing strategies, utilizing state of the art sourcing practices and anticipate market evolutions.

  • Manage regional sourcing initiatives (from demand analysis to contract implementation) including preparation and leading of supplier negotiations.

  • Support country and global sourcing initiatives and projects (from demand analysis to contract implementation). On-going contract management and follow-up on major projects.

  • Conduct regular benchmarking and performance/risk evaluations of strategic local, regional and global suppliers and establish corresponding improvement plans.

  • Establish and manage good working relationships with business partners on a country, regional and global levels.

  • Meet with IT/Telecom and business unit executives regularly to represent the DHL Group Procurement Global Sourcing organization.

  • Drive corporate standardization, providing on-going support to country and corporate stakeholders).

  • Support compliance management by promotion of supplier contracts, participation in self-assessments, etc.

  • Lead and manage category teams including identifying and aligning resources and exercising operational leadership (motivation, delegation, communications and conflict management).

  • Develop cluster/category specific expertise, knowledge and trainings for the virtual category team.

  • Project management and performance improvement methodologies (First Choice Initiatives/PIWs), follow-up on Employee Opinion Survey and Business Partner Satisfaction Survey.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Minimum 8 years in Telecom Technical training or MS/MA plus 5+ years related field experience.

  • Minimum 8 years telecoms management, contracting and/or sourcing experience, including deep knowledge of enterprise telecom environments, fixed line and mobility service solutions and the regional/global telecom industry.

  • Demonstrated experience dealing with complex, high dollar service agreements with tier one carriers.

  • In-depth knowledge of telecom contracts, sourcing methods, vendor management and procedures, performance incentives, procurement tools, contract management experience in particular telecom outsourcing agreements.

  • Demonstrated skills to manage and lead cross functional and multi-cultural teams.

  • Proven ability to work with English, Spanish and/or Portuguese speaking business partners and suppliers.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast moving, cross border environment.

  • Highly effective interpersonal and technical skills, including presenting, advising and consulting executive management.

  • Strong business acumen and communication skills, especially, dealing with tier one IT and Telecom regional and global companies.
