We currently have need for a Director of Industrial Engineering at our CVG Hub in Erlanger, Kentucky . This position will be responsible for planning the utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations. Additionally, this position will establish work measurement programs to analyze work samples in an effort to develop standards for labor utilization and may also contribute to the development of budgets and forecasts.

Job Tasks:

  • Directs, manages and coordinates industrial engineering projects in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.

  • May coordinate projects with operations.

  • Analyzes operations productivity data to formulate strategies for improving efficiency through better utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel.

  • Evaluates current work methods for efficiency and quality; develops modifications and implements as appropriate.

  • Develops long-term operating plans in major markets and gateways to ensure appropriate facility and operating resource decision making.

  • Develops and maintains effective material handling and equipment specifications for the field; designs and implements systems consistent with material handling specifications and safety standards.

  • Supervises two or more staff; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing subordinate staff. Assigns work, sets completion dates, reviews work, and manages performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and performance management processes.

  • Expert advisor to peers and internal customers.

  • Collaborates with senior management to deliver strategic business results.

  • Builds collaborative working relationships across groups; evokes loyalty and respect from others.

  • Manages a large number of service, production, or support employees via subordinate supervisors or a team of exempt professional individual contributors and applicable staff in Associate roles.

Skill & Qualifications:

  • Typically requires BS/BA and 8-10 years experience in related field, including at least 5 years of supervisory or management experience.

  • Must be able to work third shift

  • Has extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in specialized functions or business areas.

  • A thorough understanding of specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.

  • Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.

  • Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.

  • Viewed as expert in functional or business area within DHL.

  • Deals with cross-cultural tactical issues.

  • Professional certification required in some areas.
